Oprah talks about the OWN network and still wanting to interview O.J. Simpson

If you are an Oprah fan you have heard her say on many occasions that she wants to interview OJ.  She’s had dreams of sitting with him on the Oprah show stage and having him confess that he killed Nicole Brown!

Then she wakes up!

During an interview by Paula Zahn at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, she was at it again.  Saying that she only wants to interview OJ if he confesses to her, implying like many Americans that she believes OJ is guilty.

What makes Oprah think that after 17 years since receiving the “Not Guilty” verdict for the infamous killing of Nicole Brown Simpson and friend Ron Goldman that OJ would confess to her?  With a very Oprah like, optimistic answer, she shows how much she believes in herself and states:

The same forces in the universe that led a poor girl in Mississippi to become a very successful talk show host will make it possible.

That statement proves that Oprah practices what she preaches.  Believe in yourself, especially when you are sitting in front of a banner that reads “Everything Possible”.

Oprah also wishes that she was able to interview Susan Smith – the mother who was sentenced to life in prison for murdering her children.

OPRAH’S VACATION CUT SHORT

Oprah recently cut her vacation short to dedicate more time on her struggling cable network, OWN.  When questioned about her five year plan for getting OWN to the top, Oprah said that she would do it in three.  [“YOU GO Girl”]

In her own words regarding the networks vision,

The vision for the network is to make shows that open a heart space, and make sure that when viewers leave a show they feel better than before they watched it.

Oprah mentioned that she doesn’t bother reading any press about the network and what needs to be improved, because she already knows.  She can watch the shows herself and see what changes need to be made.

Well, the jury is still out. I personally think Oprah rode the success and fame of the Winfrey show rather then making the show as good as it could have been over the last few years.  A great contrast is the Ellen Show.  Ellen is fun, engaging, dynamic and funny.  Someone that you want to hang out with and spend time with and be around without being judged.  Over the years, Oprah’s interview style has gone from engaging to lazy.  Her shows previous success allowed her top billing, which paved the way to high ratings.  Her fans love her and might possibly be the most loyal fans in the history of daytime TV therefore she could have easily rode out another 5 years.

With a sub-par line up, and no real focal point along with 24 hrs. Of TV space to fill, let’s see if Oprah can dust off her work boots, roll up her sleeve and let the poor girl from Mississippi show us what she’s made of.  We are all rooting for her, the question is, “Will we be tuning in?”
