Fat Joe Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion. Just How Much Did He Earn?

Fat Joe is walking down a road that leads nowhere good.  Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena appeared in a New Jersey court where he pleaded guilty to not filing tax returns for 2007 and 2008.

New Jersey is where he has a few of his companies incorporated.  The interesting part about these tax evasion cases is that you actually find out how much money these people were truly earning.  In the two years that Fat Joe didn’t file, he earned:

$13 Million in 2007

$1.4 Million in 2008

In the following years, his income dropped but he still did relatively well for himself.

$320,000 in 2009

$680000 in 2010

It’s not clear if he failed to file for those years as well, but as part of a plea agreement he is only being held accountable for 2008 and 2009.

His total tax bill to the IRS is estimated at more than $718,000.  He faces up to 2 years in prison and fines up to $200,000.  He will return to court on April 3rd.

Fat Joe’s attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman stated,

Fat Joe’ has taken responsibility for his tax failures. He hopes to repay his tax indebtedness,”

As can be seen form is earnings, Fat Joe’s career has been slowed.  His last studio album was 2010’s “The Darkside Vol. 1,” and his only release since then was the mixtape “The Darkside Vol. 2” in 2011.

Fat Joe’s Net worth is surprisingly estimated at: $35 million (I think that figure might need to be adjusted slightly).
