Ja Rule Released from Jail

Ja Rule Finally Released From Prison….but Only for a few Hours.

After serving nearly 2 years in prison, Ja Rule was released yesterday….sort of.  Many people thought he was in jail for tax evasion which was not completely the case. The 20 months that he served was for criminal possession of a weapon now he will have to do some more time to finish his concurrent sentences.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS…..

Ja Rule was leaving a concert in Manhattan back in 2007, when his $250,000 Maybach was pulled over for speeding.  Upon investigation the Maybach was found to be uninsured and had a suspended registration.  A .40 caliber semiautomatic was also reported to be found in the cars rear door panel. Since he was pulled over in New York, their strict gun laws mandated a two year prison term.

Ja Rule did the least he could of those two years.  Due to his celebrity status he was held in protective custody and had only two incidents of misbehavior, both reported to be related to unauthorized phone calls.

OUT OF ONE AND BACK IN ANOTHER

Ja Rule who’s prison name is Jeffery Atkins left the Mid State Correctional Facility in Marcy and was taken to another jail in Oneida County.  He will be held there until his sentencing for tax evasion begins.

Courts say that Atkins  failed to file taxes from the years 2004 to 2008.  From those years it was determined that he owed $1.1 million in taxes.

Ja Rule will have less than six months left to be a free man.  He might also be eligible for a halfway house which will allow him to get back to work and start paying on back taxes that he owes.

Once his sentencing is over he will still have a year of supervised release.  Despite being locked up, Rule has an estimated net worth of $5 Million dollars.
