The Travel Channel Yanks Newest ‘Man v Food’ show after Adam Richman’s Social Media Meltdown!

Adam Richman had the dream job. He got paid to literally travel around the world and stuff his face full of all foods that could only be created by God. As you can imagine, a job like that comes with some hazards, a few being an oversized gut, loss of breath when standing still, and the inability to see your feet.

RICHMAN’S EPIC WEIGHT LOSS

Richman decided to take matters into his own hands. He said seeing the fat him got him and posting a huge number on the scale was all he needed to get motivated,

It was depressing. But it wasn’t just my appearance — airplane seats felt cramped, I was wearing an XXL jacket, and I had less energy. I went in for a checkup, and when my doctor had me stand on the scale, even he was surprised. Seeing that number (which I’ll take to the grave) was a turning point. I knew I needed to make a change.”

Richman dropped 70 lbs in just 10 months and decided to show off by posing nude for UK’s Cosmo. [more…]

THE INSTAGRAM POST THAT STARTED IT ALL

Feeling good about his new, thin self, Adam posted a selfie on Instagram of him trying out a new tailored suit. If you look closely at the hashtags – you will see that one of them is #thinspiration.

INTRODUCING THE OVERSIZED, ANNOYING, SELF PROCLAIMED, FAT ACTIVIST AMBER SARAH

2vafn28

Oy Vey. As you can see Amber Sarah (assuming this is her pic, taken from her Google+) is no size 2, or 20. Apparently she doesn’t have a life and her and her friends are a bunch of annoying social media trolls. One of her friend’s points out to Richman that the hashtag he used “#thinspiration” might not be exactly what he thinks it means. Although this was pointed out to Richman politely, Richman’s response was not so much, he replied simply “DILLIGAF”.

Amber’s friend tells Amber about the DILLIGAF comment and Amber decides to fight the good fight. She also comments on his instagram, telling Adam that the word is controversial. Richman appropriately ignores her comment, as he mentioned before, he doesn’t GAF.

Being ignored in real life might be something Amber Sarah is used to, but being ignored on social media too…Oh she’s not going to stand for that (not just because standing makes her tired….). She posted on her Instagram and asked her followers to tell Richman that eating disorders “are not a joke and nothing to take lightly.”

Really? Is it that serious?

And that’s just what her fury of fat friends do. They go to Richman’s Instagram and troll the crap out of him.

RICHMAN GOES OFF

Richman offers sort of an apology…sort of, but it was too late,

“Maybe you’ll acknowledge that just because someone is on TV, they are no less worthy of human kindness, respect, forgiveness or patience…Give me a [expletive] break. If anyone acts like a [four letter word] I’ll call them one. It’s not misogyny, it’s calling a spade a spade….if my use of the hashtag offended you, it was unintentional & for that I’m sorry.”

It was too late and the pile on began. Richman than took things to the next level, calling one of the women the “C” word and telling another

Grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you

Here is a snapshot of some of the comments.

Although amusing and understandable, Richman forgot that he was representing not only the Man vs. Food brand that he has built up over the years, but also the Travel Channel. Some of these women are probably secret fans of his. If they didn’t tune in to see him they definitely tuned in to see the food!

To make things worse on her free wordpress website Amber Sarah wrote,

I wonder how the Travel Channel, who employs Richman, feels about him going around calling girls cunts and telling them to kill themselves?

Nail, meet coffin.

TRAVEL CHANNEL PULLS HIS NEW SHOW

Adam’s new show was supposed to debut yesterday and the Travel Channel yanked it. Richman is one of the best things that the Travel Channel has going for it with a host of shows – Man v Food, Best thing I ever Ate, Adam Richmans Best Sandwich in America…just to name a few. He is to the Travel Channel what Gordo Ramsay is to Fox.

RICHMAN OFFERS FOUR APOLOGIES

Realizing that he screwed up, and was messing up his money Richman started the flood of “I’m sorries”

APOLOGY 1 – ON TWITTER. I CALL THIS THE “Oprah” (Deleted)

Yes. I’ve responded to internet hate recently with vile words directed at those hating me. I am sorry, I should know better & will do better,

APOLOGY 2 – ON TWITTER. I CALL THIS THE “Woe is me, I’m a celebrity”

“In real life, if you say stuff you regret in anger, you cool down, apologize & move on.If you’re a celeb on social media – it becomes a blog.”

APOLOGY 3 – ON INSTAGRAM. I CALL THIS THE “I didn’t know”

He says that he would have never used #thinspiration if he knew what it meant.

THE FINAL APOLOGY

This time he went to ABCs Good Morning America and issued an official apology,

“Good Morning America”: “I’ve long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I’m incredibly sorry to everyone I’ve hurt.”

SO WHAT NEXT?

The travel channel did not confirm that the reason for pulling the show last minute was this social media disaster but of course it is. WE know better. We also know that Richman isn’t really sorry for everyone he has hurt.

ADAM VS AMBER SARAH

Abmber Sarah is a fat activist. Although there are a few people who actually don’t mind being fat, fat activist are typically people who are trying to convince other fat people to stay fat so they are not fat by themselves. Richman had already won. Richman’s appeal was his average Joe approach to life which made him extremely likeable and relatable in a King of Queens sort of way.   He was the average guy that was winning, and we liked watching him win because he was us. Every new show was a win for Joe Average.

Richman was pulling down $35,000 per episode. He is worth $8 Million dollars and he let some over sized Betty and her band of merry wildebeests take down his empire.

There are entire staffs, make-up artists, camera men, producers, all employed based on Richman’s success or unemployed based on his lack of success. This is where the apologies come from. I know in the heat of the moment, it’s hard to take all that in, but you get paid $35,000 per episode to do just that.

And to Amber Sarah, I hope you are happy. But don’t over celebrate. The Travel Channel makes too much money on this franchise to let you and your twenty readers stop the gravy train. Did I just say gravy….YUMMM.

So for now congrats Sarah, but I would suggest getting a life and a personal trainer. Actually if you got the trainer first you will find that a life will follow.
