The NFL Comes Down Hard on Cowboy’s Ezekial Elliot. They Conduct Their Own Investigation and Suspend Elliot 6 Games! (READ THE LETTER)
This is a shocker! Especially because earlier this week, Cowboys owner Jim Jones said that he felt that Elliot would not be suspended. When asked about the issue Jones said,
“There are a couple of issues that might or might not fall — and that’s going to be up to the league to the decide — under the behavioral guidelines, But in my opinion, we’re preparing our team for Zeke and should.”
It’s taken over a year for the NFL’s investigation to be completed. The investigation was launched after the Ohio city prosecutor’s office decided that due to inconsistencies in the alleged victim’s statements, that the investigation of the matter would not be moving forward. The NFL decided then, to take matters into it’s own hands.
THE NFL USED TWO INCIDENTS TO MAKE THEIR FINAL DECISION
Not only did they consider the alleged domestic dispute, they also used the incident where a video of Elliot fondling a girl’s breast, without her permission, during a St. Patrick’s Day parade surfaced online. Although the girl did not press charges, the NFL found it inappropriate.
In a statement made by the league, it’s clear they actually did a really thorough job,
“Over the course of the last year, the league conducted an extensive investigation. League investigators interviewed more than a dozen witnesses, including Ms. Tiffany Thompson, who had alleged multiple instances of physical violence in July 2016, and Mr. Elliott.”
“The league also consulted with medical experts. League investigators examined all available evidence, including photographic and digital evidence, thousands of text messages and other records of electronic communications.”
In case you were wondering if this would impact the Cowboys, the answer is Hell Yeah. Last season, Elliot led the league in rushing with 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns. Losing him for 6 games is going to hurt….Bad.
