Jessica Vogel, former ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ contestant, dies at 34 in N.J.
At just the young age of 34, Jessica Vogel is gone. She was a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen. This is a show that I watched almost religiously up until last year. I remember her Jessica; she was just 30 years old when she aired on Season 12 of “Hells Kitchen” in 2014. She was from New Jersey.
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?
Vogel was being treated for colitis. It’s a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. However during this treatment, her heart gave out. With a little more digging we learned that Vogel battled addiction all her life to both drugs and alcohol. She had recently been treated for her addiction in an in-patient rehab program but the damage to her heart had already been done from the years of prior abuse. It was too late.
Her obituary posted in the NJ Star Ledger not only pays tribute to Jessica but delivers a message that we all need to hear today:
“Unfortunately, the damage done over the years was too great, and she died, like she lived, a fighter
“Unfortunately, the damage done over the years was too great, and she died, like she lived, a fighter,” the tribute reads. It continues, “She wants the message left behind not to be ‘sex, drugs, and Foie Gras,’ but rather the importance of appreciating your talents, always working hard to improve, but to never forget that it is the loving heart that truly changes the world.”
Although Jessica wasn’t’ a huge star and the fact is, we will forget about her in the next 2 hours; maybe the words from her obituary will resonate with us long enough to impact us just a little. Maybe we slow down a little, Thank God for waking us, give a smile to our haters, appreciate our God given talents and tell our loved ones, how much we love and appreciate them now while their still here.
The loving heart is what truly changes the world.
