NBA Star Richard Jefferson’s father killed in drive-by shooting
This is pretty shocking news. Richard Jefferson Sr. the father of 38 year old NBA shooting guard Richard Jefferson was killed in a drive-by shooting in Compton.
Like a scene out of a movie, Jefferson Sr. was hanging outside of a liquor store with two other men around 6:52 pm. He was talking with two other men when a vehicle pulled up and opened fire. Jefferson Sr. was struck in the torso multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Richard Jefferson Jr. has played in the league since 2001. That’s nearly 18 years, he has played 17 seasons including a 2016 championship win. He has an estimated net worth of $50 Million.
ESPN reported that Jefferson and his father grew closer over the years, despite being raised by his mom. However I’m assuming not close enough.
Jefferson Sr. was 65 years old.
Authorities are investigating if he was the intended target.
It’s hard to imagine my dad being 65 years old, me having a net worth of $50 Million and my dad having any reason to be in Compton unless it was volunteering to give back.
It’s a cold world out there. Bundle up. Our thoughts are with Jefferson and his family.
