After 25 Years Of Marriage Jeff Bezos Is Divorcing His Wife, And There’s Over $137 Billion To Split
Jeff Bezos might be in for the most costly divorce in history. The 54-year-old billionaire is divorcing his wife after 25 years of marriage. They were going through a trial separation and it looks like they discovered they both really enjoyed being separated.
Jeff and his wife MacKenzie met in New York when he was working as vice president of a hedge fund. They married in 1993, just six months after they met, and quit their jobs on Wall Street to move to Seattle and start their own companies, which was obviously an incredibly smart decision.
A record $137 billion will be on the line in this divorce. They own a total of 400,000 acres of property, which makes them two of the biggest landlords in the country. They also have four children together, so this divorce is going to be long and confusing as hell.
Although they both claim it’s amicable, so maybe they’ll avoid the drama…
“We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
But still, with that much money on the line, it’ll be interesting to see if they have this “we stand together” attitude after the divorce.
TMZ sources claim there are no signs of a prenup, which means since they live in Washington, any assets accrued during the marriage are split 50/50. That means MacKenzie will be set for life.
MacKenzie is the author of multiple novels, so with her cut of $137 billion, she’ll have a lot of freedom to write whatever the f**k she wants.
