‘Empire’ Star Jussie Smollett Returns To Chicago, Police Want To Speak With Him Again
It’s been a little over a week since Jussie Smollett was attacked in Chicago. You’ve all heard the story by now. Two men allegedly beat him up, yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him, and then put a rope around his neck. Pretty disturbing sh*t.
Police have been investigating this attack for a week now. They’ve reportedly looked through hours of surveillance footage, but still have not been able to find the attack. However, they have spotted two persons of interest who were across the street from Smollett around the time the attack went down.
According to a local Chicago news source, there is a 60 second window where Smollett is not on camera, and when he returns back in the picture, he has the rope around his neck. Police believe this is when the attack happened. As of right now, it looks like there might not have been a camera facing the direction of the attack.
Smollett returned back to Chicago on Sunday to start work on the ‘Empire‘ set. He reportedly shot scenes for one of the final episodes of the season on Monday and attended a table read with the cast on Tuesday. Extra security was present the entire time.
According to TMZ, cops want to speak with Smollett again while he’s in town. No word on what they want to discuss. Maybe they’re still trying to get his phone records to confirm that he was on the phone with his manager when the attack happened.
Police revealed Monday they’ve found additional surveillance footage surrounding the time leading up to and after the incident … but the new video hasn’t been released. Our sources say cops have not found any video of the attack or anyone fleeing after the attack.
We’ll continue to keep you posted as this story develops.
