Black Eyed Peas Talks About Why Fergie Is No Longer In Their Group
Have you been restless at night? Trying to figure out why Fergie left The Black Eyed Peas in 2017? After all, they had been together for over 10 years!
Well, in a new interview with Billboard magazine, Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Taboo finally revealed why Fergie left the group. They claim she left the group out of a desire to devote herself to being a wonderful mom.
We love her, and she’s focusing on being a mom. That’s a hard job, and that’s what she really wants to do and we’re here for her… It’s really the way Fergie designed it, so we’re respecting her design. We love Fergie, and we don’t want anything but awesomeness for her.
But unfortunately our schedule is displaced by [her] wanting to be a great mom, and she wants to focus on that.”
They went on to explain that her departure is for the best for all parties, because now they can introduce the world to singer J. Rey Soul. (also, she has a period in her name, which is apparently a requirement to join the group)
I feel we’re giving birth to a new artist, J.Rey Soul. I really want to give her ultimate praise and respect. What the fellows said—Ferg, she’s doing the mom thing—but we have an amazing artist we’re developing.
For those who don’t know, Soul joined the group back in 2018 after winning the Philippines’ version of The Voice.
As for Fergie, she’s still putting out new music. She released a solo album back in 2017, which was produced by Will.i.am, but perhaps he sabotaged her because the album flopped hard.
It debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200, then fell all the way to 131 in its second week on the charts. In its third week, the album fell off the chart completely.
