Keke Palmer Speaking The Truth, Says It’s Okay To Be Wholesome!

Growing up I was often teased for being “wholesome”, the shows I acted on, the fact that I had a bedtime on tour and even sometimes the way I spoke. What I hated most was that people assumed that because of all these things I somehow hadn’t experienced life. I felt constantly challenged on how “real” I was when it came to the “black experience” all because my mom raised me not to wear my hardships. The reality of wanting to be able to communicate in whatever room I was in stopped me from being able to ever be ONE THING. #codeswitch I say this all to say, no matter your background, no matter your culture, you are valid because you are. Everyone is not the same and that doesn’t make anyone more cool or less. In fact, the only thing that makes a mf lame to me is when they aren’t being TRUE to who THEY are for other people’s acceptance. I can never ever be what anyone else wants me to be, I can only be Keke(which is quite all over the place). You should only be you too! Whatever that is. ❤️❤️

We live in a world of promiscuity and cruel prank wars, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Live your life, you know? But on the flip side, being “wholesome” shouldn’t be seen as a negative in today’s society.

Keke Palmer went on her Instagram account early Monday morning to send a message to her young fans. She wanted to express how important it is to stay true to yourself, even when others are making fun of you for it.

She ended her message by saying the only thing she finds lame is when a person is living a life that’s not true to them. When they’re living a life based on what everyone else thinks.

And that’s a powerful message to give to her young fans. Palmer is one of the more inspiring celebrities out there. She seems to always be setting a good example.

Fact is, social media is changing how people grow up, and the desire to ~fit in~ is even stronger for kids these days. You have everyone showing all their highlights on social media, and absolutely zero of their lowlights, so it creates this fairytale everyone tries to mirror.

It’s not real though. Be you. Be someone that you’d like to hang out with.
