As we’ve told you several times before, the hot thing to do after a breakup is to write a song about it and profit. Selena Gomez has done it, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and the list goes on and on.
The most recent artist to turn a recent heartbreak into a song? Demi Lovato. She and her ex-fiance, Max Ehrich, split a couple weeks ago. The details surrounding their breakup are still unclear, but some sources say Demi started to believe Max was using her for his career, so she decided to end the engagement.
Meanwhile, Max claims he was blindsided by the split and says he didn’t find out about the breakup until he read about it online.
Early Wednesday morning (Sept 30) Lovato surprised everyone (even her team) by dropping a new single titled Still Have Me.
Sources claim her team did not know she was releasing it today, so now they’re rushing to get it on the streaming platforms to make that $$$.
The song’s lyrics certainly paint a picture of heartbreak, ‘I’m a mess and I’m still broken … I don’t have much but at least I still have me … and that’s all I need.’
Demi also sings, ‘All the highs and now just lows. But it doesn’t even matter, cause I’d rather be alone. All my life disappeared and I’m laying right here while the silence is piercing … and it hurts to breathe.’
Demi wrote a caption stating, “Music is always there for me…” which is true. She has used music and songwriting as therapy in the past. She wrote her hit song “Anyone” just four days before her near fatal overdose.
