Naya Rivera’s Ex-Husband Ryan Dorsey Fights Back Against Rumors That He’s Dating Her Sister Nickayla
Like most of us, Ryan Dorsey has not had a good 2020. In fact, he’s probably had a worse 2020 than you. The 37-year-old actor was married to the late Naya Rivera for four years, from 2014 to 2018.
In 2015, they welcomed their first son (Josey) together. And even though they got divorced a few years later, they were still working hard to coparent together.
So you can imagine how difficult Naya’s unexpected death was on Dorsey. He became a single dad overnight, and now he’s been left with the difficult task of trying to comfort his 5-year-old son.
And he’s trying to do that under intense surveillance and scrutiny from fans and gossip sites. Last week, photos surfaced of Dorsey hanging out with Naya’s 26-year-old sister, Nickayla. Rumors started swirling that she had moved in with him and that they were dating.
Typically, Dorsey doesn’t respond to the rumors, but he couldn’t let this one go. He went on his social media accounts and posted a tearful video.
I usually don’t read comments on my own stuff because I know how there can be 50 good things said and five negative ones. Somehow as humans we get those five negative ones stuck in our heads wondering how people could say certain things.
It’s truly sad that this is the world that we live in where people were raised to think it’s OK to spew hatred, in general, especially when they make statements about a family who are dealing with a tragedy that I hope is so unimaginable that you or anyone that is close to you ever has to go through.
He went on to confirm that Nickayla is indeed living with him and Josey, but it’s only because Josey wanted her to stay. After all, she is the closest thing to Naya he has.
[Josey] asks me if Titi can live with us. ‘I want Titi to live with us forever,’ because she’s now the closest thing he has to a mom. You’re going to need all the help you can get as a single parent trying to build your career and navigate this disaster with your child. And to have to let him get what he wants, what he asks for, and what he needs right now, which is his family.
After all that he’s had to go through how could you deny him that? Because of what? What some strangers might think or say, or spew some hatred based on some ill-advised, ill-logical, misinformed tabloid?
He’s making a lot of sense. I mean, either way, he’s going to need some type of live-in nanny, so why hire a stranger? Clearly Josey needs family right now, and Nickayla probably reminds him a lot of his mom. He needs that comfort right now.
Who are we to judge? That being said, this photo of them holding hands inside a Target is a little suspect…
But again, who are we to judge? Even if they are dating. Things happen. Grief can cause some weird sh*t. Not everyone handles it the same way. Also, it’s not like Ryan was currently married to Naya when she died. They had been divorced for two years.
LEAVE THE DUDE ALONE! That’s all I’m saying.
