John Legend And Chrissy Teigen Give First Joint Interview Following Pregnancy Loss
2020 has been a difficult year for everybody, but it’s been especially difficult for John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. They were all set to welcome their third baby together this year.
Unfortunately, something started going wrong back in September. She was hospitalized for excessive blood loss, and despite multiple blood transfusions, the situation was just not getting better. The baby was not getting enough fluids, and it wasn’t far enough long to be delivered.
The loss was extremely painful for both Teigen and Legend. They had already picked out a name for the baby. They were going to call him Jack.
This past week, nearly two months after the loss, Teigen and Legend joined Good Morning America for their first joint interview. Teigen explained that every day is different, “Every day is so different. When people ask how I’m doing, I say, ‘I’m OK, today.’”
For his part, Legend explained why he decided to take photos…
When we did, it really meant so much to so many people. I’m just grateful that my wife was courageous enough to do it. … One of the ways we could carry on Jack’s memory was taking pictures of that moment. I was worried, like, I don’t want to commemorate this pain … [but the photos are] something to remember him by.
It’s been an extremely challenging time for the two stars, as you can imagine. It’s a pain you probably can’t really describe.
But it’s a pain that has brought them closer together, says Teigen:
We’ve been through so many challenges together and they’ve made her stronger, and I know that doesn’t always happen when people go through tragedy. But I feel like the challenges we face together have made us feel even more sure about who we are together as a couple, and who we are as a family.
