Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband Is Reportedly Seeking Nearly $500k In Spousal Support…WHAT?
Damn. Kelly Clarkson’s divorce with Brandon Blackstock is getting messier by the minute. As some of you may know, Clarkson and Blackstock got married back in 2013 after being in a relationship for two years.
And at the time, they were extremely happy. Clarkson even joked that he was ruining her creativity because she was too happy to write songs. They had their first daughter together back in 2014 and then had a son in 2016.
Fast forward to June 2020 and it was revealed that Clarkson had filed for divorce citing the popular “irreconcilable differences.”
Back in September, Clarkson had this to say about her life…
I mean, it’s no secret. My life has been a little bit of a dumpster. Personally, it’s been a little hard the last couple of months. I’ve been talking to friends that have been through divorce. I don’t know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved.
According to sources, one of the main reasons for the split was quarantine. They had been arguing before the COVID-19 madness, but they were able to ignore it because they were constantly traveling and away from each other for weeks at a time.
But when they were forced to lockdown together, that’s when they really discovered that things weren’t going to work out.
Now it’s being reported that Blackstock is seeking $436,000 a month from Clarkson. $301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support. He’s also wanting Clarkson to pay $2 million in legal fees. It’s worth noting that Clarkson asked the court to enforce their prenuptial agreement and block spousal support.
No word on what will happen with that, but either way, Clarkson will be paying child support and she’ll be paying A LOT of it. I mean, can you imagine that? $135,000…A MONTH? There are people raising three kids while making $40,000 a year!!!!
Clarkson reportedly has a net worth of around $50 million, so it’s not like she can’t afford it, but still….damn. That’s a lot of money. I don’t understand why these people don’t just stay married. Agree to an open relationship or something. It must be cheaper and less stressful.
