Former NFL Star Vincent Jackson Found Dead Inside Hotel Room At Just 38-Years-Old
You often hear people say, “We lost a good one today” and usually that’s only true like 25% of the time. Not everyone can be great, right? Some people suck.
But sadly, when we say we lost a good one today, we really mean it. Former NFL star Vincent Jackson was found dead inside his hotel room at the Homewood Suites in Florida.
The 38-year-old, who played in multiple Pro Bowls, was found by a housekeeper. The cause of death has not been determined, but authorities have stated there were no obvious signs of trauma.
However, in the days leading up to his death, his family members were in touch with authorities because they hadn’t heard from him. A formal report was filed back on Feb. 11th, just a few days before his body was found.
Jackson was one of those rare athletes that was great on the field and off the field. The former wide receiver played his final five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he is ranked fourth in franchise history with 4,236 receiving yards and 10th with 268 receptions.
But perhaps most important was his work off the field. He was the Bucs’ nominee for the Walter Peyton NFL Man of the Year four years in a row. He gave back to the community like no other athlete.
ESPN Buccaneers reporter Jenna Laine wrote the following on Twitter…
Vincent Jackson was a cherished member of the Buccaneers and our community. For those who didn’t follow Vincent Jackson’s career in Tampa…he and his wife Lindsey put on baby showers for military families. They wrote a series of children’s books to help families cope with deployment. He represented everything that was good about Tampa Bay. We loved him.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
