Chadwick Boseman’s Wife Gives Emotional Acceptance Speech During The Golden Globes
This year’s Golden Globes looked a bit different. The nominees were all attending from the comfort of their home/hotel room, due to COVID-19 restrictions. There were several awkward moments and most of the show was a hot mess.
But there was one special moment. The late Chadwick Boseman won the award for Best Actor in a motion picture-drama for his performance in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom‘ — he became only the second posthumous winner in the category’s history.
And accepting the award was his wife, Simone Ledward Boseman. She gave an emotional and powerful speech. Everyone was crying while watching it.
As most of you probably know, Boseman died back on August 18, 2020. He had been battling cancer for years without anyone (outside his family) knowing.
His death hit Hollywood hard. Not only because of the shock factor, but because everyone who knew him, loved him. He truly cared about people. You didn’t hear one negative thing about him, and that’s not because he died. People were praising him long before that.
He will continue to be missed, and we send our thoughts and prayers to his wife. We’re sure giving that speech wasn’t easy, but it was important.
