Prince Philip Dies At Age 99, Get The Details Inside
Well, the royal family has been in the spotlight for the past few months, thanks to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s shocking interview with Oprah. You know, the one where they essentially called out certain members of the family for being racists.
Some royal defenders slammed Harry and Meghan for releasing the interview while Prince Philip was in the hospital in bad shape. But the dude was 99-years-old, so literally any time they picked may have been a bad time.
He was released from the hospital back in February/March, but his situation did not look good, and now we are hearing that he has passed away.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the news on Friday, April 9.
It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss. Further announcements will be made in due course.
And while it’s sad when anyone dies, Prince Philip died knowing he had lived a full life.
In fact, way back in 2000, Prince Philip told writer Gyles Brandreth that he had no desire to live to 100, “I can’t imagine anything worse. Bits of me are falling off already,” he said at the time.
Philip lived to be the oldest-ever male member of the British royal family and the longest-serving consort of a reigning British monarch…if that means anything to you.
According to a few insiders, Harry is expected to return to the U.K. to attend Prince Philip’s funeral. No word on if Meghan will take the trip with him. They better make sure they have adequate protection.
