Vine Star Adam Perkins Dead At Just 24-Years-Old
Remember Vine? If so, you probably remember a creator by the name of Adam Perkins. He first reached viral fame back in 2015 for his ‘Welcome to Chili’s’ skit on the Vine platform.
The clip earned over 20 million loops in just one year and spawned multiple parodies and remixes.
From there, he created a series of humorous videos on the video-sharing app and popularized the hashtag #whiteteen, Newsweek reported.
Before Vine went belly up, the internet sensation had an eye-popping 290,000 followers.
He graduated from NYU with a degree in musical composition and dropped his first album in 2018. He had a bright future ahead of him, but sadly it’s being reported that he died on April 11.
The Los Angeles County coroner confirmed the news. He died at just 24-years-old. His twin brother, Patrick Perkins, went on his Instagram account to mourn the loss.
I can’t even really put into words what this loss means for me. I’m often asked the question, ‘What’s it like to be a twin?’ And my response is usually, ‘What’s it like to NOT be a twin?’ Being a twin is a very central part of my identity. It’s all I’ve known. And I’m struggling to find the words to explain what it will be like for me to live in this world without him. My best friend.
A cause of death has not been released, and we don’t have nearly enough information to speculate, so we’ll wait for an official word on that.
You know, Vine was basically the original TikTok. It wasn’t quite as popular as TikTok currently is, so all those Viners that you remember with followings like Perkins (150,000 – 300,000 followers) they would have likely had millions on TikTok.
