Mom In Louisiana Claims Her Son Was Denied Medical Care Because Of ‘Gangsta Wrapper’ Shirt
Damn. It looks like doctors in Louisiana hate wordplay. A woman by the name of Shelly Jack told a local news station that her 17-year-old son was shot in the leg while trying to pull a friend away from a fight.
When they went to get help at Mercy Regional Medical Center, a doctor reportedly refused to treat her son because he was wearing a Christmas sweater with the words, “Gangsta Wrapper” on it.
He looked at him and said ‘You have the nerve to come in to my office with this gangsta apparel after you got shot in the leg, and all the kids got shot due to gangster activity’
I said, ‘I don’t see the problem, but he can take it off.’ He said, ‘No, you don’t come into my office with this gangsta gear. That’s disrespectful to me and everyone else in here.’ And he ranted on how he wasn’t going to participate in helping a gang member. That’s what I got from it.
Thankfully, her son was able to make another appointment with a new surgeon, but still, the situation was extremely uncomfortable.
She has filed a complaint with the hospital, and they claim they are investigating the incident, “Our hospital takes all complaints very seriously. We will complete a full investigation on each complaint filed,” they said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Jack said the situation hurt her feelings because she felt bad for her son…
It hurt my feelings because I know my son. He’s not perfect but he’s trying. He’s in high school about to graduate. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time. That doesn’t give him the right to profile him because of something he was wearing.
Sounds like the doctor needed to prescribe himself a sense of humor, because daaamn…they probably sell that shirt at Walmart. You think a real gangsta is going to wear that? You think that’s their uniform? They got name tags too?
Also, what does this doctor care? Aren’t they supposed to help anyone? Even murderers?
