Bill Gates And Melinda Gates Are Getting A Divorce, And There Is No Prenup!
It looks like Bill Gates will have to take a brief pause on collecting all the recent microchip data (it’s a joke, get your vaccine) because he’s about to go through a divorce.
It was announced earlier this week that he and his estranged wife Melinda Gates have filed for divorce after nearly 30 years of marriage.
They sent out the joint statement you can read below:
Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.
They got married in Hawaii back in 1994. They started dating each other way back in 1987 after meeting at a New York trade show.
Along with being megarich, the 2 are widely known for their philanthropic efforts ever since launching the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. It was estimated in 2014 that they had donated $28 BILLION to the foundation, a number that’s only skyrocketed in recent years.
According to the reports, there is no prenup, which is a bit surprising given how much money they both have. Melinda is reportedly not asking for spousal support and many people believe this will be settled without a trial/lengthy court battle.
Just as recently as 2019, Bill spoke highly of his wife…
In the case of Melinda, it is a truly equal partner. She’s a lot like me in that she is optimistic and she is interested in science. She is better with people than I am. She’s a tiny bit less hardcore about knowing, you know, immunology, than I am.
Bill is 65-years-old and Melinda is 56-years-old, so they’ll have to navigate a new dating world, which has surely changed since the last time they were both single in the ’80s.
Good luck to them both!
