Drake on Drugs: The Young Money Rapper Admits to Drug Usage to Cope with Pressures

I had more respect for Drake when he was the kid in the wheel chair on Degrassi high.  Now all of a sudden he’s a thugged out, strip club hopping, bottle popping Young Money rapper.  In the back of my mind, I always think that he’s just acting the part.  All of this is just more acting and he’s a lot smarter then all of us.  He’s actually saving a sh*t load of money and is slowly building a Jay-Z like empire….we’ll see.

DRAKE ON DRUGS

During a recent interview with the Guardian newspaper he admitted to take drugs to deal with the pressures of fame.  He prefaces the drugs by explaining that it’s all in moderation.

“Have I sipped codeine before? Yeah, of course. Have I smoked weed? Yes. Do I drink wine? Yes. But do I do it excessively? No. I’m not a reckless guy. I do it all within moderation.”

Sounds like an afterschool special.  Next he will tell you he can quit anytime he wants.  He reminds you that he is different.  He can control his drugs, not like other artists.  Drake explains,

“You get artists who go crazy and don’t know how to handle it. There are people who have killed themselves. There’s the overwhelming stress, how tired you are, the weight on your shoulders of going out and giving 18,000 people entertainment … It’s a lot of pressure.”

DRAKE’S A SOFTEE

Drake is no stranger to the haters.  Drake is one of the rappers that has no middle ground.  You either love him or hate him.  Recently in an interview DMX went on a rant about the 25 year old rapper:

“I don’t like anything about Drake. I don’t like his f**king voice.  I don’t like the s**t he talks about. I don’t like his face.  I don’t like the way he walks… like, nothing, I don’t like his haircut.”

As you can see, Drake is polarizing and he admits it does get to him at times……

“It’s scary for me to say this on record, but artists are only human, and we seek validation like everyone else. You just have to come to the conclusion that it’s OK, there are going to be people who like you and people who don’t. Luckily, there are millions of people who love me and a few who don’t.”

DON’T DO DRUGS  🙂

Kids – don’t think you can control drugs because you can’t.  Drake has earned to the right to live in a world that revolves around him.  He can be late, people will wait for him.  He can decide not to show up, people will reschedule.  If he’s hungover, he has someone running out to get him aspirin.

You, you live in the real world.  If you are late for work, you get fired, don’t show up for work, you get fired.  Do a terrible job because you were hung over…guess what?  You get fired.  So my advice is don’t do drugs, at least until you get that first multi-million dollar record deal.
