Mikey Walsh found dead, Death predicted on Twitter and Facebook weeks earlier!
Former Weezer bassist, Mikey Walsh has died at just the young age of 40.
He was found in a hotel room in Chicago where he was staying while he attended the Riot Fest. His old band Weezer was the headlining act.
Walsh took over as bassist from Matt Sharp after Matt left in 1988. Walsh stayed with the band long enough to complete what is now known as “The Green Album” which featured “Hash Pipe.” That single became one of the band’s biggest hits, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard’s Alternative songs chart. Shortly after, he suffered a mental break down and tried to commit suicide. Back in 2007 he gives an account of the details,
‘Basically, a lifetime of doing drugs and being undiagnosed as having disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder finally caught up with me when I was 30 years old,’
‘At the beginning of a 3-month European tour with Weezer, I started slowly falling apart.’
After recovering, he resorted to his other, less stressful passion, painting. He moved to Vermont with his wife and two kids and became an artist.
Forecasts of his death ironically came via the selling of one of his paintings. On Facebook in regards to the price of a piece he was selling. He wrote about the sale price being $250:
‘if i am still alive at time of purchase, price to increase exponentially if i expire prematurely.’
Then came the death prediciting tweets:
‘dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today.’
Before adding: ‘correction – the weekend after next.’
At of the time of the article there has not been an official announcement on the cause of his death, but the police say it involves narcotics.
Weezer reacted to news of his passing on the band’s official Twitter, writing:
‘We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear the awful news, our friend and fellow weez rocker @mikeywelsh71 has passed away. We love u Mikey.’
RIP – God bless is two girls and wife he left behind.
