Robin Robert’s Mother Dies at the Age of 88.
There were reports all over the internet yesterday about Robin Roberts leaving GMA early. Many people thought it was an early exit due to her illness, but we soon found out, it was to be with her mother who was dying.
It seems that Roberts was just in time. She was able to say goodbye to her mom, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts who passed on Thursday at the age of 88.
George Stephanopoulos announced today on GMA that Robin’s choice to leave the show a day early turned out to be a good one, he reassured the GMA audience and long time fans that Robert
“wanted to get home a little early to say goodbye to her mom. She made it home just in time.”
The entire ABC staff was notified of the death of Robin’s mother via an email by the show’s executive producer Tom Cibrowski stating,
“It is with deep regret and heavy prayer and reflection tonight that I write to tell you of the passing of Robin’s beautiful and inspiring mother,
Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts was the first black head of Mississippi’s board of education, and author of a book called, “My Story, My Song”; A book she co-wrote with Robin Roberts.
The 51 year old Robin Roberts was scheduled to prepare for a bone marrow transplant on Tuesday as treatment for the rare bone disease MDS. So far there have been no details of her plans changing.
