GMA Weatherman Sam Champion Marries Longtime Partner Rubem Robierb
We sort of knew that “Good Morning America” weatherman Sam Champion was gay for years. Back in 2008 Andy Cohen confirmed it by letting it slip on his blog during a post he wrote that summer. Cohen wrote,
The lunch went until cocktail time and on my way home I stopped by a store opening in East Hampton. Kelly Ripa and Marc Consuelos were the ‘hosts’ of the party, but the store is owned by Sam Champion’s boyfriend. Neither of the Champions seemed to be around for the first 90 minutes of their own party, and so the topic of conversation inside the party became: If you are the host of a party (and not the ‘host’) and your name is not ‘Madonna’, is it appropriate to make an ‘entrance’ or be there from the start? People seemed to be split on the etiquette.”
Cohen wrote it so casually that if you didn’t care, you would miss it. Not only didn’t I care, but I already knew.
Then this year Champion confirmed all the rumors by announcing in October that he would marry his partner this January, and that’s exactly what he did; except he didn’t wait for January.
In a small intimate wedding, Sam Champion and his longtime partner Rubem Robierb, who is a photographer of Brazilian decent, said their “I do’s”. The ceremony was very small, quick and by all measures extremely lowkey. Rubem’s mom and sister’s attended the wedding via Skype.
It was good to see that Robin Robert was in attendance and looking good. Robin was looking regal rocking a bald head and a smile bright enough to light up the world. She recited a poem by Elizabeth Barret Browning during the ceremony.
Both Sam and his partner were thrilled, and took to twitter to show everyone just how.
Thank you for ur love and support! THE most wondeerful day!

They will celebrate their nuptials again in Miami on New Year’s Eve. Champion told People,
“It’s a shame we can’t officially have a legal ceremony in Florida. We’re not separating them, because we’d like to do it twice. New York it will be legal. Miami will be the spiritual side to celebrate with the people who have been with us and supporting us and been a part of our lives since we met. We want to celebrate with them.”
Something tells me however, that it won’t be a subtle quiet affair.
