Kelly Clarkson Takes to the Internet and Dishes Dirt on the Real Clive Davis.
It appears that there are some things in Clive Davis’ soon to be released Memoir that are just not true, and Kelly Clarkson, is hell bent on setting the record straight.
The memoir has been making headlines because the twice married 80 year old, and arguably one of the most powerful men in music…ever, has revealed that he is bi-sexual. As this came as a shock to most, Kelly Clarkston was shocked by other claims.
In the book Davis stated that Clarkston broke into hysterical sobbing when Clive demanded that the song “Since U Been Gone” be included on her album.
Not only does Kelly dispute the accuracy of this claim, but she tells the story of a Clive Davis that is manipulating and downright evil.
Davis is the Chief Creative Officer of Sony records, and no doubt a man with extreme power in the music industry. However Clarkson refuses to be bullied. She states on her Whosay account,
‘I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don’t have to cower to anyone – even Clive Davis.’
She also insists that Clive has mixed up events, confusing the time that Kelly did cry in his office. She recounted things from her perspective,
But, yes, I did cry in his office once. I cried after I played him a song I had written about my life called “Because Of You.” I cried because he hated it and told me verbatim that I was a “sh*tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me.” He continued on about how the song didn’t rhyme and how I should just shut up and sing. This was devastating coming from a man who I, as a young girl, considered a musical hero and was so honored to work with. But I continued to fight for the song and the label relented. And it became a worldwide hit. He didn’t include that in the book.
She also goes as far as accusing Davis of trying to sabotage her album because she didn’t take his direction. By tanking record sales, this would prove that he was right.

So far there has been no response yet from Clive, but at 80 years old, I don’t think he has a Whosay account.
In case you were wondering if the guys behind the scenes make money….Clive Davis is worth an estimated $800 Million!!
