Ryan Reynolds Reveals How He Really Feels About Taylor Swift Using His Kids’ Name In Her Song
If you’re not a Taylor Swift lover, then you might not know she used the names of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ daughters in one of her most recent songs.
In her track, Betty, Swift named the characters in the song Betty, Inez and James, which just so happen to be the name of Reynolds and Lively’s kids.
And wouldn’t you know it, Swift is actually good friends with the power couple, so the move was certainly intentional.
During a recent interview on The Jess Cagle Show, Reynolds talked about how he felt about Swift’s decision…
The names are the names of our kids, but you know, we trust her implicitly. She’s very sensitive to any of that stuff. And obviously the song has nothing to do with our kids other than our kids’ names. What an honor… We thought it was pretty, pretty damn amazing. We still do. You know, I still walk down the street and shake my head thinking, ‘I can’t believe that happened.’
So obviously Swift knew they’d be cool with it, or else she probably wouldn’t have done it. In fact, I bet you she asked them beforehand.
Reynolds also explained how they didn’t tell their daughters about the song until it had been released. They then surprised them with it, “They had no idea,” he revealed, which had to be a pretty cool moment as a parent.
By the way, if your’e wondering, Reynolds and Lively’s marriage is still going strong. They got married back in 2012, and Reynolds says he still very much enjoys her baked goods and sex.
But of course, she’s more than an easy bake oven. Reynolds says she actually helps him write, and she’s damn good at it.
I write on a lot of my movies. It’s been a survival mechanism for me for a long time. Sometimes I’m credited, sometimes I’m not. There are a lot of A++ writing that I’ve done that was actually Blake. So, she’s a really talented, multihyphenate kind of person in this weird… entertainment industry that we work in.
