Cara Delevingne Finally Talks About Those Bizarre Photos Of Her, Admits She Needed Help For Drug Addicton
Remember last year when actress/model Cara Delevingne was spotted acting all kinds of weird at a Los Angeles airport? She was spotted with her hair a mess and without shoes. She looked like she was on some heavy drugs. She was the person you cross the street to avoid interacting with.
Shortly after those photos went viral, we saw Cara’s best friend Margot Robbie pay her a visit in Los Angeles. She was spotted crying after leaving Cara’s house. And even though reps tried to deny the truth, we all knew her friends had staged an intervention for her.
Now, six months later, the 30-year-old is doing much better. In an interview in Vogue, she admitted the paparazzi snaps were a reality check for her. She says when the photos were taken, she had just returned from the Burning Man festival. “I hadn’t slept and I was not okay,” she remembered.
She also said it’s hard to look back at because in her mind, she was just having fun.
It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point, it was like, ‘OK, I don’t look well.’ So in a way, those pictures were something to be grateful for. It’s a scary thing to the people around you who love you.
She checked herself into rehab in late 2022, but she had multiple interventions before that.
I wasn’t ready. That’s the problem. If you’re not face-first on the floor and ready to get up again, you won’t. At that point, I really was. All I knew is if I was continuing to go down the road I was, I would either end up dead or, like, doing something really, really stupid.
These days, Cara is in a 12-step treatment program that has made a huge difference in her life. She admits she’s never going to be fully “fixed” or healed, but she’s okay with that, and she says that’s the difference.
Oh, and her girlfriend Minke is playing a big part in her recovery as well.
She’s the type of person who has boundaries, and there came a point when she wasn’t going to have it much longer. It was a blessing in disguise.
