Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ Has Been Canceled By Facebook… OH NO!
On Wednesday, April 26, it was revealed that Jada Pinkett Smith’s online talk show, Red Table Talk, was canceled by Facebook, and it’s not exactly surprising.
You see, the show was the last remaining FB Watch Original, so this cancellation probably says more about Facebook than it does about Jada Pinkett Smith.
In fact, producers of the show are already trying to find a new home for it. After all, it was fairly popular, albeit sometimes for the wrong reasons. Who could forget that awkward episode where Jada had Will Smith sit down and discuss how he felt about her cheating on him with their son’s friend? That was weird, and uncomfortable, but hey… it got people to watch!
According to the reports, this decision by Facebook was made after the former head of development and programming, Mina Lefevre, was let go from Meta. The company is moving away from “original programming” and focusing entirely on creating VR experiences.
It’s the end of an era for sure. Hate it or love it, Red Table Talk gave us some great moments.
Jordyn Woods notably sat down for a tell-all interview in 2019 after she kissed Tristan Thompson at a party. The model, 25, at the time was best friends with Kylie Jenner, whose sister Khloé Kardashian was dating the NBA player.
The show aired over 120 episodes and gained around 11 million followers on Facebook, making it the most successful show on the platform by far.
Given its popularity, it’s likely another platform picks it up. Honestly, I could see it working on YouTube, but we’ll see what happens.
In the meantime, let us never forget…
