Ray Liotta’s Cause of Death Has Finally Been Revealed A Year After His Tragic Passing
‘Goodfellas‘ actor Ray Liotta died last May while filming ‘Dangerous Waters’ in the Dominican Republic. His death was a shock to everyone, after all, he was only 67-years-old, which is not that old these days.
For a year now, people have been waiting to hear back on what caused his sudden death, and now we finally have some answers. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Liotta died from heart and respiratory issues.
The documents indicate he had fluid in his lungs, respiratory insufficiency and acute heart failure.
Medical authorities also listed atherosclerosis — a thickening of the arteries caused by a buildup of plaque in the inner lining — as an underlying issue.
So it sounds like his heart/lungs were just not working anywhere near 100% and his body finally gave out on him. It’s not clear if he knew he had these medical issues, or if he had no idea anything was wrong. He reportedly died in his sleep.
Liotta is survived by his 24-year-old daughter, Karsen, and his fiancee Jacy Nittolo, who was with him while filming. She wrote a tribute to Liotta shortly after his passing.
My life these past couple of years have been nothing but truly magical. Ray and I share a deep love that I will cherish in my heart forever. We laughed daily and we were inseparable. The chemistry was wild in the best way. He was everything in the world to me and we couldn’t get enough of each other. The kind of real love that one dreams of.
Our thoughts continue to go out to his friends and family.
