Hayley Atwell Finally Addresses Rumors Claiming She’s In A Romance With Tom Cruise

As most of you know, Hayley Atwell co-stars alongside Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise. This upcoming seventh installment will be the first time her character, Grace, is introduced.

But she and Tom have been friends for years, and some people believe they’re more than friends. Romance rumors have been following them around for a bit now.

Is there any truth to the rumor? Looks like no. The 41-year-old British actress told the ‘Independent’ that she looks at Cruise and director Chris McQuarrie as her uncles.

The weird [romance] rumors felt dirty and grubby. It’s not what I’m about. … Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?

For those who don’t know, Atwell actually got engaged to composer Ned Wolfgang Kelly back in April, and things appear to be going well between them, so you can understand how upsetting these rumors are.

Atwell reportedly went straight to Cruise and asked for advice on how to deal with it…

When I’ve talked to him about it, he’d be like, ‘You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is.’

That’s good advice. You can’t let others change how you feel about your life or yourself, especially when those “others” don’t even know you personally.

Honestly. Dating rumors probably follow those who are close to Cruise around because the actor is so nice to his co-stars, often taking them on trips or surprising them with kind gestures on set.

Atwell even gushed to Entertainment Tonight in June about the ‘Top Gun’ actor surprising her grandmother with a ride in a ‘helicopter on Christmas Eve and … a tour of London.’

Sounds like he’s just a nice guy.
