Lizzo Responds To Lawsuit Filed By Former Dancers, Says The Allegations Are Outrageous And Not True
Earlier this week we told you about the shocking allegations made against Lizzo by three of her former dancers. If you missed it, you can click here to read all about it. But basically, they claim she made them perform lewd sexual acts, berated them in front of others, and pressured them to lose weight.
They filed a lawsuit against her, and while we won’t know the outcome of the lawsuit for months, Lizzo herself has responded to the allegations.
In a statement posted on her social media accounts on Thursday morning, the 35-year-old Grammy winner claims the allegations against her are completely false.
These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed.
She called the claims “sensationalized,” which seems to suggest there is sliver of truth to them. Perhaps Lizzo did have her dancers go to the red light district with her, but they were more willing participants than they care to admit. Of course, that’s just speculation.
Lizzo seems to believe this lawsuit is only happening because two of the dancers were fired.
With my passion. I have high standards. I make hard decisions. It’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.
She also added that she knows what it feels like to be body shamed on a daily basis and “would absolutely never criticize or terminate an employee because of their weight.”
Lizzo ended her message by saying she’s hurt, but will not let the “good work” she’s done in the world be overshadowed by this.
So there you have it. To hear her tell it, she’s a freaking angel! Who do you believe?
