‘Hills’ Star Whitney Port Admits She Had Over $30k In Credit Card Debt Before Marrying Tim Rosenman

Even celebrities have credit card debt! ‘Hills‘ alum Whitney Port was on a recent podcast episode for “Money Rehab” with Nicole Lapin, and she confessed she mad major credit card debt before marrying her now husband Tim Rosenman.

She explained how the bill got so high that she basically just started paying the interest on it.

When I got engaged, I remember having, like, a $35,000 credit card bill. I had known about it for a while and I was letting it rack up and was just paying, essentially, the interest each month. I felt ashamed.

Eventually one night (probably after some good sex) she told him about her debt and he was surprisingly chill about it. He told her that they would figure it out, and together, they were able to pay it off with ease.

But how did she get into so much debt? Well, even though she was earning a good amount from reality TV, she was spending more than she was bringing in.

I hadn’t learned how to save money. I spent a lot, and I think that that became this behavior of mine that I’ve tried to quell as I’ve gotten older.

For those wondering, her husband is a TV producer who is reportedly worth a little over $1 million. Port’s net worth is closer to $5 million.

They recently bought a $1.5 million home just outside of Los Angeles and are trying to add another addition to their family.
