Eva Mendes Defends Her Boo Ryan Gosling From The “Ken” Haters

When it was first announced that Ryan Gosling would be playing Ken in the ‘Barbie‘ movie, some people were not happy about it, claiming he was too old to play the famous doll.
One article from Rolling Stone really went hard on Gosling. When the first photos from the movie were released, Rolling Stone published an article calling Gosling “cringe” and called him the “creepy, older West Hollywood [man] who still thinks they’re in their 20s.”
Of course, we’d love to see what the person who wrote the article looks like, because we’re willing to bet they don’t look half as good as Gosling does at age 43.
In any event, the movie was released and the haters were quickly silenced because everyone loved Gosling as Ken. And earlier this week, he was actually nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars for his role in the movie.
And his longtime boo, Eva Mendes, went on her Instagram account to praise her man and throw shade toward the article and the haters.
So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars [sic]. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie.
How sweet!
She wasn’t the only one praising Gosling. His co-star, America Ferrera, commented on the post and had nothing but nice things to say about the actor…
He is brilliant as Ken! Pulled off a triple somersault performance. We’re so lucky it was him and I’m so grateful for the way he showed up with his super stardom, and continues to show up to support all the women in this process!! He is a class act and insanely deserving and talented.
Everyone loves Ken!
