Caitlyn Jenner Lands ‘Sports Illustrated’ Cover, Talks About Her Transition And The 1976 Olympics (PHOTOS)
As people take their sweet time accepting the fact that Bruce Jenner is gone and will never come back, Caitlyn Jenner has been busy living the life she always wanted to live. Some people might think she’s doing it all for attention, but she does genuinely seem happier now, and happiness is truly the only thing that matters.
The 66-year-old athlete/reality star was on the cover of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated to talk about the 40th anniversary of her unforgettable decathlon win at the 1976 Summer Olympic games.
Jenner told the magazine that the decathlon was the perfect distraction. It was something she needed at the time.
Sports. It’s not real life. You go out there, you work hard, you train your a** off, win the Games. I’m very proud of that part of my life. And it’s not like I just want to throw it out. It’s part of who I am. What I’m dealing with now, this is about who you are as a human being.
The high of winning gold didn’t last long for Jenner though. The morning after her win, she stood naked in front of the mirror at the hotel and said to herself, “I said out loud, ‘What the hell am I going to do now?’”
She wasn’t happy with her body. Sure, that body might have been in prime physical condition. That body might have made her one of the most popular athletes in the world 40 years ago, but it wasn’t the body she wanted.
It disgusted me. I was big and thick and masculine. The rest of the world thought it was this Greek god kind of body. I hated it. But it’s what I was given, so I just tried to do the best I could with it.
Okay, okay, okay…you’re probably wondering where the Smack Talk is, right? Are we afraid to talk bad about Caitlyn Jenner? Absolutely not.
We didn’t really like her as Bruce and we still don’t like her as Caitlyn. I mean, she’s planning to vote for Donald Freakin’ Trump, “Just because I’m a woman now doesn’t make me all of a sudden liberal.”
Yes, really.
