Lil Wayne Officially Cooks the Beef with Jay-Z on Newest Album.
Part of being a rapper is ego, and when you are on top everyone wants to tear you down.
With that being said, I think Lil Wayne might have gotten caught up in himself. He took offense to Jay-Z’s lyrics taking them personally. There is no indication that Jay-Z is talking about him…maybe he is, but there is no clear indication of this.
Here is Jay’s verse from the 1st single H.A.M. off the “Watch the Throne” Album. ,
“Really you got baby money
Keep it real with niggas,
niggas ain’t got my lady money.”
“Baby” refers to Lil Wayne’s mentor Birdman aka Baby, who is known to have a ridiculous amount of money. There is no clear indication that he is calling out Wayne, however it’s clear in Wayne’s response.
On a song with Jada Kiss and Drake, off Lil Wayne’s upcoming album Weeezy goes in hard,
“Talk about baby money, I got your baby money.
Kidnap your bitch get that that how much you love your lady money
I know you fake n*gga, press your brakes n*gga.
I’ll take you out, that’s a date n*gga.
I’m a grown ass blood, stop playing with me.”
One would think that Jay-Z is too big to address beef, but what people don’t realize is that hip hop is traditionally about rap battles. Not that Tupac, Biggie take it to gunfire beef, but that word for word, freestyle diss record beef. Jay can hang with the best of him, but at this point in his career, if he wanted to let this one slide…I wouldn’t be mad at him. He’s probably too busy watching the Throne.
