Woody Harrelson Gets Asked About Taking a Girls Virginity on Reddit AMA Disaster!!
Woody Harrleson had no idea what he was getting himself into. He decided to use the website Reddit, to hold a “15 minute Ask Me Anything” interview to promote his film Rampart. Where Woody screwed up is that he didn’t say – ask me anything about Rampart, he just said,
ASK ME ANYTHING…..and that’s what the internet crowd did. Woody, welcome to the Wild Wild Web.
Right out of the gate, he got hit with the craziness. Harrelson started the session with a simple message:
‘It’s happening – I’m answering questions for about 15 minutes. Bring on the questions on Rampart!’
And then…it got ugly.
LIKE A VIRGIN….
Someone called “Andy Rooney” gets on Reddit, and asks Woody Harrleson if he remembered taking the virginity of his friend 10 years ago on their prom night.
“You didn’t call her afterwards. She cried a lot, Do you remember any of this and can confirm or have you been so knee deep in hollywood pooty for so long that this qualifies as a mere blip?”
Whoooaa hooo!!
Harrelson responded with,
‘First of off, its not true, and second off, I don’t want to answer questions about that. Lets focus on the film people.’
Woody, Woody, Woody – that’s not what this is. It’s an AMA. That means anything!!!
Woody then started to slight answers and give bull$#!t replies. Fans were not happy. He kept trying to bring questions back to the movie, which just pissed fans off even more. Good thing this was only 15 minutes.
In fact his answers were so blahhh, many thought that it was a PR Rep and not really Woody Harrelson at all. Authenticity is one of the attractions of an AMA to begin with. Once that is questioned all hell breaks loose.
Someone asked him about missed opportunities, he replied with a stale,
‘I don’t really think about those things’.
A question about roles he had not gotten and opportunities he had missed was answered with an uninteresting;
‘I don’t really think about those things’.
When asked what films were the most fun to work on, he avoided the whole question.
‘Well I usually wouldn’t say fun…intense, challenging, engaging, yeah.’
Reddit users were pissed. AMA’s are usually frank, blunt back and forths where literally all things are asked and most of the time answered candidly. The bar has been set high previously by Zach Braff from Scrubs. Other notables have been politician Zoe Lofgren & Louis C.K. Redditors were pissed that Harrleson was trying to use the venue to strictly promote his film, like a late night talk show.
‘You talking only about your new movie makes me not want to see it. Woody. Don’t waste us redditors’ time; do your research on reddit first if you are going to do an Ask Me Anything.’
And from another user,
This is not a free ad for your movie
That was 15 minutes that I’m sure Woody would love to get back. That was his first mistake. When it’s done right you don’t just give fans 15 minutes, you give them however long it takes. Louis C.K. stuck around until there were no more questions. Woody signed off with a lame
It’s a really busy day and I’m going to try to come back…but no guarantees.
Woody, should fire his PR firm for not prepping him for an event such as this. How about having you read through one, or sit through someone else’s as it’s happening live, before just throwing you to the wolves. If I was Woody – heads would be rolling.
