Khloé Kardashian out as ‘X Factor’ Host!
In a move that has surprised absolutely no one, Fox has confirmed that they did not ask Khloé Kardashian to come back for a second season of co-hosting the reality singing competition. Last season she shared co-hosting duties with Mario Lopez, however, it appears that this season Mario Lopez will be the shows one and only host. While Fox has confirmed that Mario Lopez will be this year’s only host, they did not officially confirm that they fired Khloé, but it’s pretty obvious. Heck, there were rumors of Fox letting her go all the way back in February.
The New York Post reported that she was let go back in February due to her “on camera jitters.” One source even said this,
“It was really hard for me to watch Mario with her. It made me, as a viewer, almost uncomfortable.”
Ouch! I can’t disagree with that quote, though. Khloé was an awful host, and it really does pain me to say that because she seems like such a nice girl, at least for a Kardashian.
Even Khole seemed to figure out that she was just not meant for live TV. The 28-year-old reality star told the Huffington Post last month,
“Just learning how there’s a screaming audience and you don’t yell because the mic is right there. I will have an earpiece in my ear, and while I’m trying to read the teleprompter then I have someone counting down…and they’re like, ’OK, ask Simon this or that’ … There were just so many pieces I never knew were involved in live TV.”
She also tweeted this cryptic message last month,
“Sometimes stepping outside your comfort zone helps you grow! So grateful for the opportunity! It is what it is..Either way I had FUN!”
which would seem to indicate that she knew she wasn’t coming back, even though she tried to downplay that tweet at the time, saying,
“Stop trying to read too deep into my last tweet. Relax people…Man oh man…Thirsty?”
In all honesty, this move is definitely the right decision. Not only was Khloé a horrible host, but the show just felt weird with two hosts. I would imagine that’s why American Idol let that Brian Dunkleman go after the first season. They saw that having two hosts just did not work, it’s awkward and often imitating for the contestants. So, Fox definitely made the right decision with just keeping Lopez. Speaking of Lopez, what did he have to say about returning to the show?
Mario said in a brief statement,
“I’m looking forward to returning to ‘The X Factor’ team. We’re coming back stronger and better than ever and I’m excited to check out all the new talent.”
