‘The Walking Dead’ Season 4 Premiere Sets Ratings Record
Cable’s most-watched show came back for its 4th season this past Sunday, and it kicked some serious zombie butt in the ratings.
The extremely popular show smashed its own record as the most-watched cable show ever with 16.1 million viewers tuning in for the premiere. Easily beating the 12.4 million viewers record it set during last year’s season finale.
And get this, Breaking Bad had a total of 10.4 million viewers for its series finale last month. The Walking Dead had 10.4 million viewers just in the 18 to 49 year old demographic alone. The numbers the show put up Sunday set an all-time record for a cable entertainment show.
AMC President Charlie Collier released the following statement,
“Sincere thanks to the fans, who have welcomed The Walking Dead back for its fourth season with the highest-rated episode in the show’s history. We could not be more proud of this show and everyone on both sides of the camera who work so hard to give life to this story of character, leadership and survival.”
Those are just insane numbers for a cable show, or really any show for that matter. AMC has just hit the jackpot with this show. Admittedly, I binge watched the entire show this past summer in just a couple of weeks…cause I have no life.
It’s going to be difficult waiting a week for the next episode to air. I’ve been spoiled.
