Grammy-Winning Singer Finds Out She Has Warrant While Watching The News
If you are a fan of the classics, then there is a good chance you are a fan of Anita Baker. The Grammy-winning singer released a number of hits back in the ’80s and ’90s, and has won a total of eight Grammy awards.
However, now the 56-year-old singer is in some trouble with the law. A bench warrant has been issued for Baker for failing to appear at a creditor’s examination last year. This, as a result of a nasty lawsuit with a decorating company.
Detroit Free Press reports that the singer is accused of screwing the company out of a lot money. The Ray Smith Painting and Decorating company claims Baker still hasn’t paid her $15,000 bill.
Just yesterday, Baker tweeted out the following message after learning about the warrant on TV.
[more…]The attorney for the company told ClickOnDetroit.com the following…
“We’re not trying to give her any hard time or anything unnecessary. We just would like to collect the money for my client. He’s owed the money, and that could end it all right then.”
This whole thing dates back to 2011. Back in 2011, Baker was ordered to pay the company $15,351.44 for plastering, carpentry and painting work. They never did receive that fat paycheck, but it certainly seems like they have her attention now.
We’re willing to bet they’ll be seeing the $15,000 really soon.
