Viola Davis Celebrates Historic Win At 2015 Emmys, But There Was One Actress Who Hated Her Acceptance Speech

viol

It was a HUGE night for Viola Davis at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards. As most of you have probably heard by now, the star of ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder became the first black woman to win the Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

It was an emotional moment for Davis and the entire audience, “The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is simply opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.” She said while accepting the award.

She then continued by graciously thanking the team of writers that created her character, “So here’s to all the writers, the awesome people — people who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be a leading woman, to be black.”

Everyone seemed to love the speech. Just check out some of the reactions from the extremely powerful stars you see below…

But of course, there has to be one hater in the crowd. And last night, that one hater was actress Nancy Lee Grahn, and if you’re not a 50-year-old housewife from Idaho, you probably haven’t heard of Nancy. She’s best known for her Alexis Davis character on General Hospital. According to IMDb, she has appeared in over 1,000 episodes of the show.

The 57-year-old actress jumped on her Twitter account last night to critique Davis’ emotional speech. She has deleted a majority of the original tweets, but thanks to the power of the internet, the words she typed will live on forever.

I wish I loved #ViolaDavis Speech. Im a f–king actress for 40 yrs. None of us get respect or opportunity we deserve. Emmys not venue 4 racial opportunity. ALL women belittled. Brilliant as she is. She has never been discriminated against.

Ah, sweet. She even included “#ViolaDavis” that way all of Davis’ supporters could easily find her tweet and tell her to f–k off. And of course, after receiving a lot of hate for her comments, she sent out a series of apology tweets.

If she thought it was difficult finding jobs in Hollywood before last night, she’s REALLY going to have trouble finding jobs now, unless she becomes a host of some show on Fox News.
