Jackie Collins Dies at 77

Jackie Collins, the queen of trash fiction, has passed away at age 77 due to complications from breast cancer.

Collins made a name for herself in the romance industry, having written 30 novels and selling more than 400 million copies of her books worldwide. The younger sister of Joan Collins, she also pursued acting in her younger years before she found her true calling and publishing her first book, The World is Full of Married Men, in 1968. That book became an instant bestseller.

Nine of her books have been developed into movies and television miniseries. Her last book, The Santangelos, hit bookstores in June, finishing up a series she’d been writing for more than 30 years.

Her family released the following statement;

She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.

Collins was diagnosed with breast cancers six and a half years ago, though she kept the majority of her illness and treatment private. Private funeral services will be held both in the US and in the Uk.
