Ryan Seacrest Says It’s A Good Thing CNN Is Limiting Andy Cohen’s NYE Drinking This Year
If you were hoping to see Andy Cohen drink himself to death on CNN this New Year’s Eve, well, you’re going to be disappointed.
CNN announced that they’ll be limiting his and Anderson Cooper’s drinks this year after Cohen got a little too tipsy last year during the broadcast.
For those who don’t remember, Cohen insulted former Mayor Bill de Blasio, as well as ABC’s New Year’s Eve special, with a particularly surprising dig at Ryan Seacrest. The clips went viral, with many people finding them to be hilarious, while others thought it was a little sloppy.
CNN apparently agrees with those who found it to be sloppy. You know who else agrees with the decision? Ryan Seacrest. The longtime host of ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, told Entertainment Weekly the following:
I don’t advocate drinking when one is on the air. I don’t know how that started as a tradition, but it’s probably a good idea [to scale back].
He then joked, saying, “There’s some pretty respectable people or at least one, right?” taking a shot at Andy Cohen. But don’t worry, it was all in good fun. He’s actually friends with Cohen.
And that’s one of the reasons Cohen felt so bad after his drunken night on air. You’ll remember, he issued an apology after the clips went viral, but the apology was really only directed at Seacrest.
The only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast, and I really like Ryan Seacrest, and he’s a great guy. And I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it. I just kept talking, and I shouldn’t have, and I felt bad about that. So that is the only thing [I regret]. It’s the only thing.
Honestly. I don’t think drinking is the problem. I just think they should all drink together and have one big show on the same network. Let’s get real sloppy. The night might end in an orgy.
