Bam Margera Reveals He Was “Pronounced Dead” After Suffering 4 Seizures During Pneumonia Battle
Bam Margera’s body has truly taken a beating thanks to his heavy drug/alcohol abuse. We’re sure some of his organs are in pretty bad shape, which means when he gets an illness, it can go south rather quickly.
And apparently that’s what happened when the 43-year-old ‘Jackass‘ star came down with COVID-19. His body started to “shut down” after the illness and he had four seizures, each one lasting 10 to 20 minutes. He revealed all this on Thursday’s episode of ‘Steve-O’s Wild Ride!’ podcast.
He said on the fourth seizure, he bit down on his tongue so hard, it was nearly falling off.
It was swollen and puffy and wouldn’t fit in my mouth and I was drinking infected blood, which gave me pneumonia as well, so when the shaman took me to the hospital I went on my fifth seizure, I couldn’t breathe without a tube down my throat.
Bam woke up five days later thinking he had only been in the hospital for a couple hours. He was essentially in a coma for a week, and during this time, his heart stopped. Doctors were close to pronouncing him dead.
He tried to make some jokes about the scary situation, but Steve-O was truly worried his friend was going to die, especially after seeing him on a ventilator. He then joked, “F—king Bam better not die. He’s on my tour, he’s going to ruin everything!”
Surprisingly, Bam did not have some sort of out-of-body experience during this whole thing. He didn’t come face-to-face with God or anything. He said it simply felt like he blacked out.
It’s been nearly a month since his stay inside the hospital, and it looks as if he’s still sober, so let’s hope and pray he can continue down this path, because his body can’t take much more.
