Nipsey Hussle’s Killer Sentenced To 60 Years In Prison, Get The Details Inside
In 2019, Grammy-winning rapper Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed in South Los Angeles. His sudden death hit the community hard and everyone was in shock.
Thankfully, police were able to track down the shooter, Eric Holder Jr., and his sentencing finally went down nearly four years after the murder happened. Back in July of last year, Eric was found guilty of first-degree murder. He was also convicted of two charges of attempted voluntary manslaughter and one count of possession of a firearm.
The sentencing had been postponed several times since September, but it finally happened on Wednesday, Feb 22.
Eric was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison with credit for the 1,423 days already served. So what does a 60 years to life sentence mean? Well, it means the earliest Eric could be released from prison would be 60 years from now, or really 57 years from now, thanks to time served.
And then once the 57 years are up, it’s possible they get released. But if the court doesn’t feel like they should be, they’ll continue to serve the rest of their life in prison.
Eric is in his mid-30s, so if he manages to make it until his 90s in prison, there is a slim chance he could see life outside of prison once more. He needs to start taking his vitamins now!
Deputy District Attorney John McKinney called the killing ‘cold-blooded’ and ‘calculated,’ saying that Holder had ‘quite a bit of time for premeditation and deliberation’ before returning to the parking lot near Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard where the rapper was shot 10 to 11 times.
Sad, sad, sad stuff. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Nipsey’s family and friends. His talent will forever be missed.
