Jeremy Renner Gives First Interview Since Snowplow Accident: “I’d Do It Again”
As most of you know, ‘Marvel’ actor Jeremy Renner nearly lost his life in a tragic snowplow accident on New Year’s Day.
The 52-year-old actor was trying to clear snow from a neighbor’s driveway. At some point, he exited the machine and for some reason, it continued moving. It was headed right toward his nephew, so Renner pushed his nephew to the side and took a direct hit.
He nearly bled out in the mountains, but thankfully a helicopter was able to land and transport him to the hospital, where he stayed for two weeks. He had to have multiple surgeries. He shattered nearly all his ribs, his jawbone was shattered, he broke his leg, and had blunt force trauma to his chest.
Renner has been documenting his recovery process on his Instagram account, and now, he’s ready to give his first interview. He sat down with Diane Sawyer, in a special that is set to air next week, and revealed he would do it all over again if it meant saving his nephew.
“I’d do it again. Yeah, I’d do it again because it’s going right at my nephew,” he admitted. He also confirmed that he was awake during the whole ordeal. “I felt all the pain. I was awake through every moment.”
He’s determined to get back to where he was at before the incident. In fact, he hopes to perform his own stunts again one day.
I chose to survive, it’s not going to kill me, no way. I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.
The full interview is scheduled to air on April 6, and it promises to be pretty damn emotional. You might want a box of tissues close by.
