Tory Lanez Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion
Rapper Tory Lanez, you know the dude convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion? Well, he’s been sentenced for the crime, and he’s going to serve 10 years in prison.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the sentencing news to CNN.
In December of last year, a jury found Lanez guilty of three charges related to a shooting that went down in July of 2020.
Lanez had pleaded not guilty to assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, according to prosecutors.
The jury clearly didn’t buy the case presented by his attorneys, which resulted in them convicting him on all charges. After the sentencing on Tuesday, LA County District Attorney George Gascón had this to say…
Over the past three years, [Lanez] has engaged in a pattern of conduct that was intended to intimidate [Stallion], silence her and keep her from defending and bringing her truth out. Despite the physical violence, verbal attacks and attempts at public humiliation, [Stallion] remained strong and shared the events of that fateful night with the jury and the world.
Meanwhile, attorneys for Lanez plan to appeal the decision. They also say that their client is feeling pretty low right now and is having a difficult time processing the 10-year sentence.
Jose says Tory is leaning on his faith in God, the support of his friends/family and the indignation his supporters around the world are expressing — many of whom are loudly lamenting the stiff punishment.
Lanez is 31-years-old, so if he does serve 10 years, he won’t be out until after his 40th birthday.
