Shia LaBeouf Confirmed Into Catholic Church, Expresses Desire To Become A Deacon
Shia LaBeouf is one of the more confusing actors in Hollywood. The former Disney Channel star has had a lot of struggles, from DUIs to allegations of physical abuse from his ex-girlfriend, FKA Twigs.
He’s a super passionate dude who jumps 100% into things, and his latest obsession is religion.
According to a new report, the 37-year-old star has been confirmed into the Catholic Church and has plans to become a deacon. The Capuchin Franciscans Western America Province confirmed the news on their Facebook account.
We are thrilled to share that our dear friend Shia LaBeouf has fully entered the Church this past weekend through the sacrament of confirmation! His decision to fully enter the Church is a testament to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live out the Gospel values. We invite you to join us in celebrating this momentous occasion and to keep Shia LaBeouf in your prayers as he continues to deepen his faith and seek God’s guidance in his life.
His confirmation sponsor, Capuchin friar Brother Alexander Rodriguez, revealed Shia has wanted to become a deacon since starring in the 2022 movie, Padre Pio. In the movie, Shia played the part of an Italian priest.
For those who don’t know, deacons are “ministers of sacrament” and can baptize, lead prayers, conduct wake and funeral services, and marry people.
It’s a pretty interesting move by Shia. Joining the Catholic Church is certainly a bold move. They don’t exactly have the best image these days.
We’ll see how long this little adventure of his lasts. We’re assuming he’ll grow bored of it soon. But who knows, maybe he’s a completely different person now that he’s a father. He and his partner, Mia Goth, welcomed their first child a little over one year ago.
