‘Emily in Paris’ Star Ashley Park Lucky To Be Alive After Going Into Septic Shock While On Vacation

‘Emily in Paris‘ actress Ashley Park is opening up about how terrifying the last few weeks have been for her. People had been wondering why she seemed to be MIA in recent weeks, and now we know why… she was fighting for her life.
In an Instagram post, the 32-year-old star revealed while she and her boyfriend, Paul Forman, were on vacation in the Maldives, she developed a nasty case of tonsillitis, which then quickly spread through her body causing her to go into septic shock. That’s when an infection starts shutting down your organs.
After spending one week inside the ICU and three weeks inside the hospital, Park is finally on the recovery side of the illness.
I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we had initially been told. Grateful most of all to @peforman for being unconditionally by my side through all this. You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know. I love you Paul. More than I can ever say.
She also thanked every nurse and doctor who treated her, and those who were working with her back in the states to make sure all of this was being covered by insurance.
I hesitated to share what’s been happening as I’m still in the throes of recovery…but I now know I’m safely on the other side of the worst.
How scary going through all this in a completely different part of the world. Sometimes I’m thankful that I’m too poor to take vacations.
Several of her famous friends commented on her post, including her co-star, Lily Collins, who seemed very emotional.
I can hardly look at these without crying. I love you sister and I’m forever grateful you’re on the other side of this and for @peforman for your incredibly huge heart and for being there every step of the way. I cannot wait to hug you both ❤️
