Truly Embarrassing Video Shows Florida Deputy Unloading His Entire Clip After He Mistakes Acorn For A Bullet
We have seen a lot of embarrassing body cam videos, but this has to be the most embarrassing. A Florida sheriff’s deputy named Jesse Hernandez detained 22-year-old Marquis Jackson back in November of 2023.
Jackson was apparently sending threatening text messages, so Hernandez and his partner handcuffed him and placed him in the back of a patrol car.
Seems routine enough, right? Wrong. As Hernandez walked by the patrol car, an acorn apparently dropped down and hit the vehicle, and somehow Hernandez thought the acorn was a bullet.
He lost his damn mind, dropping and rolling on the ground as if he was filming a scene for some action-comedy. He then pulled out his gun and unloaded his entire clip on the vehicle. The vehicle where Jackson was just sitting helplessly in handcuffs.
Amid the panic, his partner — who didn’t hear anything like a gunshot — seemed confused as to why he was freaking out, and also started shooting at their car. Miraculously, both of them missed Jackson, but Hernandez’s body cam video shows he completely overreacted … which was the finding of the Sheriff’s Office investigation. Okaloosa officials determined his use of deadly force wasn’t reasonable, and his partner got a pass … since she only fired based on his actions.
Throughout the video, you can hear Hernandez question several times if he was hit. At one point, he even screamed, “I’M HIT!” which is pretty damn embarrassing since literally nothing hit him.
Hernandez was not criminally charged for the blunder, but he did resign, because well, clearly he was not fit for this job. As for Jackson? Surprisingly, he hasn’t sued the county yet, but we have to imagine that lawsuit will be dropping at some point.
